Pickler was born Kellie dawn Pickler on June 28, 1986. Pickler had a difficult childhood. As a young girl, her mother ran away to protect her from an abusive family. In 1995, she returned into the world of Pickler and was granted the custody rights. It was, however, not an enjoyable time for her. When Pickler was 12, the court returned her to her grandparents, whom she grew up until adulthood. Pickler could not be a parent to her children when they were absent. She confessed that, in the absence of parents, Pickler had no time to attend school. In the meantime, she began in the process of learning to care for her family at an earlier age. Pickler took part in cheerleading squads of both her middle and high school. North Stanly High School graduated her in 2004. Pickler attempted to make a name for herself as a model. When she was a teenager she began modeling and in 1984 began her acting career in Once Upon a Time in America. The modeling career she had lasted for several years, before she shifted to acting.
